Discussions regarding generational identities highlight distinct cultural and social shifts between different cohorts. The term ‘Generation Jones’ has been used to describe the younger segment of the Baby Boomer era, specifically those born between approximately 1954 and 1965. Unlike the older Boomers who came of age during the idealism of the 1960s, Generation Jones entered adulthood during the 1970s and early 1980s, a period marked by economic stagflation and social malaise.

Separately, Generation X (born 1965–1980) has faced social media criticism regarding their roles as grandparents. Some younger generations have characterized them as being less involved in their grandchildren's lives, attributing this to a perceived sense of hyper-individualism.
