Generative AI adoption rises in Peru as market share shifts away from ChatGPT

A recent Movistar Empresas survey finds that six out of ten small and medium‑size enterprises (SMEs) in Peru plan to integrate generative AI into their operations, using tools such as ChatGPT, Jasper, Claude, Canva, DALL‑E and Midjourney for tasks ranging from customer service to content creation.

At the same time, global data from Sensor Tower shows the generative‑AI assistant market becoming more competitive. ChatGPT’s share has fallen to 46.4 %, while Google’s Gemini holds 27.7 % and Anthropic’s Claude 10.3 %. The shift reflects broader adoption of alternatives like Meta AI, Grok, Perplexity and DeepSeek, aided by integration of Gemini into Android, Chrome and Workspace.

The combined trends indicate rapid uptake of AI tools by businesses in emerging markets like Peru and a fragmentation of the previously dominant ChatGPT market.
