Generative AI mechanisms and new Japanese text refinement tool
Generative AI operates on probabilistic principles rather than deterministic ones, meaning it predicts the most likely next word in a sequence rather than following fixed logic. This fundamental mechanism explains why AI outputs can vary even when presented with the same prompt and why it may produce “hallucinations”—information that sounds plausible but is factually incorrect.
The evolution of these models has been driven by the Transformer architecture, which allows for massive parallel learning. For example, the DeepSeek-V4-Pro model was trained on approximately 33 trillion tokens, an amount of data equivalent to roughly 80 billion pages of text.
To address the stylistic issues common in AI-generated text, a new tool called “yomiyasu” has been released under the MIT license. Developed by Aiichiro Oga of ALGO ARTIS, the tool is designed to refine AI-generated Japanese into more natural, human-readable prose. It focuses on structural improvements, such as clarifying subject-predicate relationships, removing excessive metaphors, and limiting sentence length to improve readability for technical and business documents.
