Generative AI adoption rises across Asian workplaces and education

Recent surveys across Asia reveal a rapid integration of generative AI into professional and personal life, alongside growing concerns regarding job security and accuracy.

In Japan, research shows that 46.7% of employees use AI for work, with higher adoption among high-income earners. Students are increasingly using AI for job hunting, with nearly all surveyed students utilizing the technology for tasks like drafting entry sheets, though some report difficulty defending AI-generated content during interviews. In the scientific community, over 78% of researchers use AI for literature searches and summaries, though 91.1% remain concerned about hallucinations.

In Hong Kong, AI adoption is significantly higher than the global average, with 73% of workers frequently using AI tools. However, Hong Kong shows lower optimism regarding AI's career impact compared to other Asian markets; 20% of workers fear career harm, primarily due to skill obsolescence.

In the domestic sphere, approximately 70% of parents in Japan use generative AI for childcare information, yet only 0.5% believe AI can replace human experts entirely, highlighting a strong demand for human verification in sensitive matters.
