Genesis may discontinue G70 V6 engine for 2027 model year

Genesis may discontinue the twin-turbocharged 3.3-liter V6 engine for the G70 starting with the 2027 model year. Documentation from the EPA and NHTSA suggests the manufacturer is streamlining the vehicle's lineup, as recent fuel economy ratings and VIN documentation only list the turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder powertrain.

The V6 engine currently serves as the performance option for the G70, producing 365 horsepower and 376 lb-ft of torque. If removed, the 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine, which produces 300 hp and 311 lb-ft of torque, would become the sole powertrain option. This change would leave the G70 without a direct competitor to high-performance luxury variants like the BMW M340i.

While Genesis has not officially confirmed the engine's removal, industry reports indicate that the 2027 model year could potentially be the final year of production for the G70 sedan.
