Genesis Runner favourite for Dulcify Stakes at Randwick

Genesis Runner, a three-year-old colt owned by Yulong, is a leading favourite for the Listed Dulcify Stakes (1600m) at Randwick this Saturday. Following a fourth-place finish in the Ming Dynasty Quality (1400m), the horse's connections opted to increase his racing distance rather than competing in the Golden Rose.

Co-trainer Will Freedman noted that the colt has shown consistency but needs a victory at this level. For this race, Genesis Runner will wear blinkers for the first time. If successful, the horse is expected to follow a path toward the Group 1 Spring Champion Stakes on October 24, with the Gloaming Stakes serving as a stepping stone.

Genesis Runner, a $575,000 purchase sired by Gun Runner, will be ridden by Chad Schofield from barrier four. He entered the week as a $2.80 favourite for the event.
