Medical technology advances through genetics and AI

Advancements in genetics and artificial intelligence are transforming cancer diagnosis and treatment. Research from the London Health Sciences Centre indicates that expanded genetic testing can change treatment plans for nearly one in three cancer patients by identifying specific cellular mutations that allow for targeted therapies.

In Spain, the startup Altum Sequencing is developing liquid biopsy technology to monitor tumor DNA in the blood, aiming to detect relapses before they become visible on conventional tests. Complementary approaches are also gaining traction, such as precision exercise programs offered by the Fundación Vida en Movimiento in Chile, which aims to increase cancer survival rates by 20% to 30% through metabolic rehabilitation. Meanwhile, researchers in the United Kingdom are exploring AI models to predict hospital-based cardiac arrests by analyzing clinical patterns.
