Geneva Lewis releases debut solo violin album

Geneva Lewis classical music violin concerto Delos records debut album

New Zealand-born violinist Geneva Lewis has released her debut solo album on the Delos label. The recording features works that trace the evolution of American music over the last century.

Included in the album are Samuel Barber's Violin Concerto and Philip Glass's Violin Concerto No. 1. The release also features the first-ever recording of John Zorn’s Partita for the Firebird, a solo violin work. Lewis performed with the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra under the direction of conductor Gemma New.

In a separate release, Noah Bendix-Balgley, the first concertmaster of the Berliner Philharmoniker, performed his own composition, Fidl-Fantazye: A Klezmer Concerto, aiming to bring the klezmer style to the classical stage.
