Geneva representative Li Kuan-te under investigation for misconduct

The Taiwan Ministry of Foreign Affairs has launched an investigation into Li Kuan-te, the representative to the Geneva office, following a 134-page complaint detailing 203 allegations. The accusations include workplace bullying, misuse of public funds, drunk driving, and professional misconduct.

Specific allegations regarding financial mismanagement include using public money for personal dormitory furniture and meals for domestic visitors, as well as falsifying exchange loss documents. The complaint also highlights labor issues, such as delayed salary payments, withholding housing subsidies, and requiring unpaid overtime.

Regarding personal conduct, Li is accused of using derogatory language and discriminatory remarks against colleagues' regional origins, gender, and religious beliefs. Furthermore, reports suggest he engaged in dangerous driving, including speeding up to 156 km/h and driving under the influence of alcohol in Switzerland. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated it has formed a task force, primarily consisting of external members, to investigate the bullying claims and will verify other allegations in accordance with the law.
