GENinCode shares surge on positive heart-risk test pilot data
GENinCode shares rose 20% following the publication of real-world pilot data regarding its genetic heart-disease risk test. The results, presented at the European Society of Cardiology congress in Munich, were based on an 18-month study of 584 patients across 14 primary care centers in Catalonia.
The study, conducted by the Institut Català de la Salut, found that integrating the CARDIO inCode-Score polygenic risk test with standard clinical assessments changed the risk classification for 42.6% of patients. Notably, over a quarter of patients were reclassified into different risk categories.
Clinical observations from the pilot included a reduction in average cardiovascular risk scores from 7.3% to 6.0%, a drop in bad cholesterol levels, and an increase in sustained smoking abstinence. Improvements were most significant among patients identified with the highest genetic risk, nearly half of whom moved into lower risk categories.
