Gennadeia Library honors winners of “My Place” student competition
The Gennadeia Library of the American School of Classical Studies at Athens held an award ceremony on September 26, 2026, to honor winners of the “My Place” student competition. The event, held at Cotsen Hall in Athens, celebrated the library’s 100th anniversary and was conducted under the auspices of the Ministry of Education, Religious Affairs and Sports.
The competition invited students from middle and high schools across Greece to explore the concept of “place” through historical, literary, and artistic lenses. Participants submitted various works, including essays, poems, theatrical pieces, and visual compositions, utilizing the library’s collections. Eleven works were ultimately selected for recognition based on originality, creativity, and the quality of their connection to the library’s archives.
Among the winners, the General Lyceum of Moudros secured second prize in the Video/Short Film category for the production “The Diary of an Averof Officer.” The film was created by students from the Humanities Department and was based on documentation provided by the Gennadeia Library.
