Genoa and Savona-Vado ports initiate new master plan and infrastructure dialogue

The Western Ligurian Sea Port Authority has launched a consultation process for a new Port Master Plan covering the ports of Genoa and Savona-Vado. The initiative includes over 20 scheduled meetings over approximately 40 days to gather input from maritime clusters, institutions, industry associations, and citizens regarding the functional use of port areas in the coming decades.

In a related development, the European Coordinator for the TEN-T Mediterranean Corridor, Mathieu Grosch, conducted an inspection of the Ports of Genoa. The visit, which included regional and government officials, focused on integrating Ligurian ports into the TEN-T network and upgrading inland rail connections to link Mediterranean ports with European manufacturing centers. Discussions highlighted the New Breakwater of Genoa, designed to accommodate ultra-large vessels, and the necessity of matching expanded port capacity with increased rail capacity to facilitate cargo flows toward central Europe.
