Genoa conducts emergency railway derailment simulation

Civil protection authorities conducted a large-scale emergency simulation in Genoa to test response procedures for a regional train derailment. The exercise took place in the Colombo tunnel between the Genova Principe and Genova Brignole stations.

The simulated scenario involved a locomotive and the first carriage of a regional train derailing approximately 1,000 meters from the tunnel exit. The drill tested coordination between Rfi, firefighters, emergency medical services, and regional civil protection, including passenger evacuation protocols and emergency exit usage.

The exercise was organized as part of the new sextuplication of the Genoa railway node and did not impact actual rail traffic.
