Genoa cultural exhibitions and literary guides explore city transformation
New cultural initiatives in Genoa are examining the city's historical and urban evolution. A photography exhibition titled “Giorgio Bergami e la città in trasformazione” is opening at Palazzo della Meridiana, running from October 14 until January 31, 2027. The collection features archival images captured by Giorgio Bergami over four decades, documenting post-war urban expansion, the cementification of hills, and significant historical events such as the 1968 Via Dige disaster, the 1970 Bisagno flood, and the sinking of the London Valour.
In a separate literary project, Alessandro Ferraro has released “Genova di Montale,” a guide exploring the city through the lens of Nobel laureate Eugenio Montale. Published by Il Palindromo, the book is part of a broader initiative promoted by the University of Genoa and the Municipality of Genoa. The project aims to create seven different itineraries dedicated to various cultural figures from the city, spanning literature, music, and cinema, supported by a dedicated web app.
