In Genoa, a partnership between the Fondazione David Chiossone, Open Fiber and Linari Medical has introduced AVDesk, a cloud‑connected neuro‑visual tele‑rehabilitation device. The system delivers multisensory audio‑visual exercises that patients can perform at home using a fast fibre connection, while AI algorithms analyse the data and allow clinicians to monitor progress remotely.
Retired radiology technician Bruno Sarti, who suffered a left‑side hemianopsia after a stroke, uses the device at his desk. He reports that the simple setup – a curved screen, a button and a camera to prevent head‑turning – lets him train independently. After roughly 20 hours of treatment, many users regain autonomy; some have even returned to driving. Over a thousand patients, both adults and children, have already used AVDesk, which aims to improve visual and cognitive abilities without invasive procedures or medication. The model is presented as a scalable example of digital health that could benefit thousands of stroke survivors.
