Genoa FC grapples with internal tensions under Dan Șucu's ownership
Ukrainian striker Artem Dovbyk turned down a transfer offer from Genoa and instead signed with Bologna, rejecting Dan Șucu's proposal.
Romanian businessman Dan Șucu, owner of Genoa and Rapid, has placed former international Răzvan Raț as a sports advisor on the club's board. Raț's increasing involvement in daily training and strategic decisions has sparked discontent among the coaching staff and players. Coach Daniele De Rossi criticised the situation, saying that merely changing a coach after ten matches would not solve the club's problems.
Genoa is preparing for the upcoming Serie A season, set to debut on 22 August against Napoli, after a series of friendly matches against Leicester (1 August), Bournemouth (4 August) and Deportivo A Coruña (8 August). The club is also reportedly negotiating for Colombian defender Brayan Medina from Portugal’s Tondela to strengthen its back line.
