Genoa hosts 52nd Nico Sapio Trophy swimming event

The 52nd edition of the Nico Sapio Trophy will take place on October 30 and 31 at the Sciorba Swimming Pool in Genoa, Italy. This prestigious short-course (25m) event serves as a critical stepping stone for Italian swimmers ahead of the Italian Short Course Championships in Riccione.

While the championships are the primary qualification venue, performances in Genoa may influence the Italian Swimming Federation's discretionary selections for the Short Course World Championships in Beijing. Several athletes have already secured slots for Beijing through the European Championships, including Thomas Ceccon, Benedetta Pilato, Simona Quadarella, and Alberto Razzetti.

Local favorite Alberto Razzetti is expected to compete to test his conditioning and rhythm. The two-day program includes various distances across backstroke, freestyle, breaststroke, butterfly, and medley events.
