Genoa Municipality awards 2025 New Year's Eve contract following court ruling

The Municipality of Genoa has awarded the contract for the 2025 New Year's Eve celebrations to the company 2000 Grandi Eventi. This decision follows a ruling by the Council of State, which overturned the previous exclusion of the company from the bidding process.

The original exclusion was based on the commission's assessment that documentation regarding the availability of a proposed artist was insufficient, specifically citing an unsigned email between third parties. However, administrative judges ruled that such proof could be perfected even after the award stage.

While the contract has been reassigned, the municipality is still negotiating potential compensation. Opposition members have raised inquiries in the City Council regarding the economic consequences for the city and the procedures for future New Year's Eve events.
