Genoa's Darsena hosts urban experimentation and social sailing project
The Darsena area in Genoa recently hosted Genova PlayCity, an urban experimentation event organized by the Municipality of Genoa with support from Fondazione Carige. Approximately 3,000 people participated in the two-day event at Calata Vignoso, which featured free activities including sports, music, board games, and boat tours. The initiative served as an open-air laboratory to gather citizen feedback for the future redevelopment of the area, collecting roughly 125 questionnaires.
Additionally, the sailing vessel Olivia is scheduled to be moored at the Darsena from September 28 to October 15. Managed by Eugenio Della Pia, the vessel is part of a social project aimed at fostering inclusion through maritime activities. The project offers workshops and sea outings for individuals with physical or cognitive disabilities, migrants, and those in socio-economic disadvantage. Visitors with tickets to the Galata Museo del Mare can tour the vessel on Wednesday afternoons.
