Genoa proposes new port master plan for energy and yachting
The Western Ligurian Sea Port System Authority has introduced a new Port Master Plan (PRP) for Genoa, focusing on energy logistics, high-end nautical services, and urban redevelopment. Key proposals include relocating Multedo chemical depots to the Porto Petroli area to streamline logistics and accommodate new fuels.
The plan also explores converting a former coal-fired power plant into a low-impact energy production hub for port operations, potentially integrating it into the urban landscape to preserve its architectural value. Additionally, the plan aims to strengthen Genoa’s position in the superyacht sector by utilizing Molo Giano for refitting services. Stakeholders, including the Genoa Chamber of Commerce and various maritime associations, are reviewing the proposals, with observations due by November 15.
