Genting Property and Huawei partner for Johor smart city
Genting Property Sdn Bhd has entered into a master-planning agreement with Huawei to develop the Johor Tech Smart City (JTSC) in Kulai, Johor. This partnership marks Huawei’s first international smart campus project and its inaugural overseas use of AI-enabled master-planning capabilities.
The project includes a flagship 430-acre smart campus located within a larger 1,700-acre Knowledge AI Campus. The wider JTSC development is estimated to have a gross development value of RM80 billion and is situated within the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone. The development is expected to be phased over approximately 20 years and will include a 500-acre AgTech Campus and a planned solar farm to support energy requirements.
Huawei will apply expertise from its large-scale campus developments in Shanghai and Dongguan to the foundational design of JTSC. The smart campus is intended to attract technology companies and facilitate advanced manufacturing and production. Additionally, the alliance aims to drive digital transformation across the broader Genting Plantations Group, focusing on agricultural technology, sustainable energy management, and data-driven infrastructure.
