genua expands high-security VPN client genuconnect to macOS

German IT security provider genua, a subsidiary of the Bundesdruckerei-Gruppe, has ported its high-security VPN client, genuconnect, to macOS. The software is designed to provide secure data communication over unsecure networks, such as those used in home offices or while traveling.

The macOS version utilizes German-developed VPN technology featuring quantum-resistant encryption. It is intended for use by government agencies, organizations requiring classified protection, and companies within critical infrastructure sectors. The client is scalable for large-scale installations exceeding 100,000 VPN clients and supports integration into existing Public-Key Infrastructures (PKI).

Genuconnect for macOS is expected to be available by the end of 2026. It is currently undergoing the approval process by the Federal Office for Information Security (BSI) for handling information classified as ‘Verschlusssache – Nur für den Dienstgebrauch’ (VS-NfD).
