Genuine Parts Company reports sales growth and lowers profit outlook
Genuine Parts Company posted second‑quarter sales of $6.5 billion, a 6.0% increase year over year, driven by a 3.4% rise in comparable sales and favorable currency effects. Industrial sales climbed 7.1% to $2.4 billion and segment EBITDA rose 9.8% to $316 million. Net income fell to $228 million, or $1.65 per diluted share.
Later in the quarter the company lowered its 2026 full‑year profit forecast to $5.90‑$6.40 per share, while reaffirming an adjusted profit range of $7.50‑$8 per share. Quarterly revenue rose 6% to $6.54 billion and adjusted profit of $2.15 per share beat analysts’ estimate of $2.08. Management said it remains on track to complete the planned separation of its automotive and industrial businesses in the first quarter of 2027, a plan supported by activist investor Elliott Management.
