Genux to invest $165 million in Mexican solar projects

Genux, a regional renewable energy developer, has secured the Lagartija and Ocelote solar projects in the State of Mexico. The initiative involves an investment of approximately $165 million and will add 201 MW of solar capacity to the National Electric System.

Both projects will be supported by a battery energy storage system (BESS) to improve regional grid stability. Once operational, the facilities are expected to generate roughly 490 GWh annually, providing enough electricity for more than 150,000 Mexican households and preventing the emission of about 250,000 metric tons of CO2 equivalents per year.

This development follows Genux's participation in the 2026 Binding Planning process and aligns with the company's broader goal of developing over 5 GW of renewable energy projects across Mexico, Colombia, Peru, and Argentina. The company already maintains assets in Mexico, including the 252 MWp Panaba wind project in Yucatán.
