Geofields Tanzania Limited launches mining wire mesh factory

Tanzania's Minister of Minerals, Anthony Mavunde, officially inaugurated the Geofields Tanzania Limited factory in Kerege, Bagamoyo District, Pwani Region. The facility, operated through the Geofields Underground Support (GUS) unit, specializes in producing wire mesh products used for underground mining operations.

As a 100% Tanzanian-owned enterprise, the factory has an annual production capacity of over 100,000 pieces. The launch aims to boost domestic production of mining equipment, reduce reliance on imports, and increase the participation of local companies within the mining sector's value chain. Officials noted that the project is expected to create employment opportunities for Tanzanian citizens, particularly in the Bagamoyo area.
