Geomdan-gu road openings delayed due to safety concerns

The temporary opening of several key road sections in Incheon's Geomdan-gu, including the Daegok-dong to Bullo-jigu connection and the Gamjeong IC access ramp, has been postponed. Although officials had previously conducted field inspections and announced an opening time, the Incheon Urban Development Corporation (iH) decided to delay the launch for at least two weeks due to safety concerns. Specifically, police raised issues regarding the insufficient turning radius for large vehicles at certain curves.

This delay comes as Geomdan-gu marks its 100th day since its official establishment. Since its launch on July 1, the district has focused on stabilizing its administrative systems, managing civil complaints, and addressing long-term urban infrastructure needs. Key priorities for the district include resolving school overcrowding, expanding regional transportation networks—such as the Seoul Subway Line 5 extension—and improving local economic foundations through business attraction and support for local commercial districts.
