Park Geon-roung debuts as K-pop singer Baby Shark Boy

Park Geon-roung, the child star of the record-breaking ‘Baby Shark Dance’ YouTube video, has officially debuted as a K-pop solo artist under the stage name ‘Baby Shark Boy’. Now 17 years old, Park released his first digital single, ‘WAVE’, on August 20, 2026.

The track features Joohoney of the K-pop group Monsta X and blends an electropop sound with a sample of the iconic ‘Baby Shark’ melody. Park, who participated in writing the lyrics, aims to transition from his childhood identity as a dancer to a singer with his own musical voice.

Supported by The Pinkfong Company, the brand behind the original viral hit, the project includes plans for a documentary titled ‘WAVE: A Boy’s Record’ to chronicle Park’s evolution. The original ‘Baby Shark Dance’ video remains the most-watched upload in YouTube history, with over 17 billion views.
