Geopolitical analysis examines the failure of Western Eurasian strategy
An analysis of current European crises suggests they stem from the geopolitical theories of Zbigniew Brzezinski. Brzezinski’s strategy, influenced by Halford Mackinder’s ‘Heartland’ theory, aimed to prevent stable integration between Europe, Russia, and China to maintain Anglo-Saxon influence.
The perspective argues that the West has lost this strategic game. Rather than viewing the war in Ukraine as a sign of Russian weakness, the conflict is interpreted as a war of attrition directed at NATO and Europe. This approach has allegedly left Europe vulnerable to energy crises, deindustrialization, and economic recession, suggesting that Western management of the geopolitical landscape has been short-sighted and improvised.
