Geopolitical and economic competition between the US and China
The rivalry between the United States and China is characterized by a complex interplay between geopolitics and geoeconomics. Unlike the Cold War era, the current competition occurs within a framework of high economic interdependence, where commercial, financial, industrial, and technological links exist between the two powers.
This interdependence creates a paradox: the same connections that provide economic benefits can also serve as sources of vulnerability and strategic dependency. The Indo-Pacific region has become a central theater for this competition due to its concentration of maritime positions, industrial economies, trade routes, technological capabilities, and alliance networks.
