Georg Steinhauser eyed as key climber in Red Bull BORA hansgrohe's 2026 lineup
Red Bull BORA hansgrohe continues its aggressive recruitment drive ahead of the 2026 season, adding prominent riders such as Primož Roglič, Daniel Martínez, Giulio Pellizzari and planning to acquire Remco Evenepoel’s contract from Soudal‑Quick‑Step. The team also announced the signing of promising talent Lorenzo Finn.
German climber Georg Steinhauser, 24, is being positioned as an important mountain‑train rider. He comes from a noted German cycling family—uncle Jan Ullrich is Germany’s 1997 Tour de France champion and his father Tobias placed fifth at the 2000 World Championships. Steinhauser has shown his ability with a solo stage win on the 2024 Giro d’Italia and a podium finish in the overall classification at Paris‑Nice. He made his Tour de France debut in 2026, though his role was limited after a difficult preparation period. The team aims to win the Grande Boucle (Tour de France) and sees Steinhauser as a potential German lead rider for that goal.
