During the fifth Albie Awards, hosted by the Clooney Foundation for Justice in London, the couple highlighted the importance of their work in recognizing individuals who risk their lives for justice. The awards are named after anti-apartheid pioneer Judge Albie Sachs.

Separately, the couple is mourning the death of Raffaele Cartolano, a long-time driver who worked for them during their stays at Villa Oleandra on Lake Como. Cartolano, who passed away at age 72, shared a close bond with the family. Unable to attend the funeral, the Clooneys sent floral wreaths to express their condolences to his family.
