George Bush Intercontinental Airport terminal evacuated after restaurant fire
A fire broke out at a restaurant in Terminal C North at George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) in Houston, Texas, on Tuesday afternoon. The Houston Fire Department responded to the scene around 4:30 p.m. local time.
Reports indicate the blaze originated in the kitchen of the restaurant Embers, producing a large plume of dark smoke visible from outside the terminal. As a precaution, airport authorities relocated passengers in the immediate vicinity of the fire.
United Airlines, which operates extensively out of Terminal C, reported that the incident caused only minor impacts. The airline shifted some flights to unused gates away from the response area to maintain operations. No passenger injuries have been reported.
