George Dalaras headlines Rempetiko Festival in Syros

On 30 August 2026, celebrated Greek singer George Dalaras performed his concert “Rempetiko” at the Rempetiko Festival on the island of Syros. The show took place in Miaouli Square in Ermoupoli, the island’s capital, and featured guest artists Asparia Stratigou, Vasilis Korakakis and Anatoli Margarola.

The festival marks the 200‑year anniversary of Ermoupoli’s founding (1826‑2026) and underscores the enduring cultural role of rembetiko, a folk‑music tradition that reflects Greek social history. Dalaras described rembetiko as “the most living expression of the Greek soul,” emphasizing its relevance across generations.
