George Donis outlines Saudi Arabia's plan for 2027 Asian Cup

Greek coach George Donis, who has worked in Saudi Arabia since 2015, told the Asian Football Confederation that he understands the "DNA" of Saudi football and aims to build the right player chemistry ahead of the 2027 Asian Cup, scheduled for January 2027. He said the focus is on blending experienced, mid‑career and younger players, without separating Saudi and foreign players, and using detailed tactical ideas to create a cohesive unit.

Donis also noted the limited time before the Gulf Cup and the Asian Cup, stressing the need to gain players' trust, manage media pressure, and fine‑tune the team’s mentality and playing style before the major tournament.
