George Hamilton used his own biography to recover memory after surgery

Veteran actor George Hamilton, 87, has revealed that he experienced significant memory loss following a surgery approximately four or five years ago. The actor stated that the condition left him feeling as though he did not know who he was.

To reconnect with his identity, Hamilton turned to his 2008 memoir, ‘Don’t Mind If I Do: My Adventures in Hollywood’. He noted that he had to read his own biography several times to process his past and determine if he identified with the person described in his life story.

While doctors initially suggested the memory loss would only last a few days, Hamilton spent years processing the experience. He reflected that the process helped him prioritize values such as kindness, resilience, and optimism over fame or material success.
