George Harrison, Eric Clapton, and Pattie Boyd featured in new rock history book

Riccardo Russino’s book, ‘Il triangolo rock’, explores the complex personal and professional relationships between George Harrison, Eric Clapton, and Pattie Boyd. The narrative reconstructs the lives of these figures against the backdrop of 1960s Swinging London.

Set against the era of Beatlemania, the story follows Boyd, a fashion icon and model, from her meeting with Harrison on the set of ‘A Hard Day’s Night’ to the subsequent involvement of Harrison’s close friend, Eric Clapton. The book examines how this romantic entanglement, marked by passion and tension, influenced iconic music, including Clapton’s solo on ‘While My Guitar Gently Weeps’ and songs like ‘Layla’ and ‘Something’.

Beyond the personal drama, the work details the enduring friendship between Harrison and Clapton, which lasted until Harrison’s death in 2001, and touches upon cultural shifts in Great Britain during the decade.
