George Ilenikhena linked with moves to Genoa, West Ham and Schalke
Nineteen‑year‑old Nigerian‑French striker George Ilenikhena, currently under contract with Saudi Pro League champions Al‑Ittihad until June 2029, has attracted interest from several European clubs. Serie A side Genoa are reported to be pursuing a loan deal with an option to buy, while English Championship club West Ham United and newly promoted Bundesliga team Schalke 04 have also made enquiries.
Al‑Ittihad, who signed Ilenikhena from AS Monaco in February 2026 for around €33 million, indicated willingness to approve a loan that would allow a buying club to secure the player without paying the full transfer fee immediately. Ilenikhena has made only six appearances for Al‑Ittihad, five as a substitute, and is seeking regular playing time back in Europe. The forward began his professional career with Amiens, moved to Royal Antwerp where he scored a decisive Champions League winner against FC Barcelona, and is rated highly by Nigeria’s national team coach Eric Chelle.
