George King criticizes officiating after San Miguel loss to Ginebra
San Miguel Beermen import George King has accused referees of favoring Barangay Ginebra following a 126-99 loss in Game 2 of the PBA Governors’ Cup quarterfinal series. The defeat leaves San Miguel trailing 0-2 in the best-of-five series.
King specifically highlighted the free-throw attempts of Ginebra import Jordan Murphy, who went to the line 21 times and converted 16. King described the volume of free throws as “a little absurd,” suggesting the officiating was biased, despite noting that San Miguel as a team attempted 23 free throws.
Jordan Murphy recorded 33 points, 10 rebounds, and nine assists to lead Ginebra. Coach Tim Cone praised Murphy’s impact on the team, while San Miguel coach Leo Austria noted that June Mar Fajardo is still managing plantar fasciitis. Game 3 is scheduled for November 3.
