George Lucas Museum opens in Los Angeles with unprecedented Star Wars artifacts

The Lucas Museum, funded by filmmaker George Lucas and his wife Mellody Hobson, opened its doors in Los Angeles on 22 September. Curated by Ryan Linkof, the futuristic‑shaped building houses more than 1,300 objects across 33 galleries and over 9,200 sq m of exhibition space.

Among the displays are production materials from Lucasfilm’s Star Wars saga that have never been shown publicly, alongside artworks by Norman Rockwell, Frida Kahlo, Jack Kirby and others. Lucas, now 82, remains actively involved in the project.
