George Michael’s ‘Faith’ guitar to be auctioned

The iconic Gretsch Synchromatic 160 acoustic guitar used by George Michael in the 1987 “Faith” music video is set to go to auction on October 29. Organized by Sworders, the instrument is expected to fetch between £60,000 and £120,000.

The guitar is the centerpiece of the “Faith & Fame: A Personal George Michael Collection,” an archive assembled by Michael’s former personal assistant, Siobhan Bailey, who worked with the singer for over two decades. Following Bailey’s death in 2014, her widower is offering the collection for sale.

Other notable items in the auction include: • Gold and platinum records, including one celebrating 500,000 UK sales of “Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go.” • Tour itineraries and running orders, including documents from the 1985 Live Aid performance. • Memorabilia from Wham! and Michael’s solo career, such as items related to their 1985 visit to China. • Rare promotional materials and personal photographs.

The auction comes ahead of the tenth anniversary of the singer’s death and the release of the film “George Michael: The Faith Tour.”
