George Orwell’s ‘1984’ returns for second theatrical seasons in Greece

The theatrical production of George Orwell’s dystopian novel ‘1984’, directed by and starring Giorgos Papageorgiou, is returning for second seasons at two different Greek venues.

At the Dipylon Theatre, the production begins its second season on October 12, performing every Monday and Tuesday. The play features an adaptation by Elena Triantafyllopoulou and original music by Alexandros-Drakos Ktistakis, performed live by four musicians on stage.

In Thessaloniki, the production will be staged at the Avlaia Theatre from November 6 to November 29, 2026, with performances scheduled every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. The production explores themes of power, manipulation, and the survival of human consciousness through a modern theatrical lens.
