George Papandreou critiques Greek constitutional revision proposals
Former Prime Minister George Papandreou has issued a detailed critique regarding the revision of the Greek Constitution. In a statement published on his personal blog, he criticized the proposals put forward by the New Democracy party and the tactics employed by the government majority during the initial phase of the process.
Papandreou expressed full support for the stance taken by PASOK to vote ‘present’ during the first parliamentary vote. He called upon other opposition parties to collaborate in shaping the content of critical articles within the next Parliament following the upcoming elections. He emphasized that the Constitution should define not just who governs, but the very system of governance, aiming to move away from a centralized and non-transparent state toward one that re-establishes democracy.
