George Poteat sentenced to five years in prison for drug and ammunition offenses

George Poteat, 36, of Galloway Township, has pleaded guilty to three criminal charges stemming from incidents in Atlantic County between late 2024 and July 2026. Under a plea agreement, Poteat will serve five years in New Jersey State Prison.

The charges involve several distinct offenses. In December 2024, Poteat was found in possession of firearm ammunition in his vehicle, which he was prohibited from possessing due to his criminal history. In July 2025, he was arrested in Atlantic City for selling crack cocaine from a pill bottle concealed in his groin area.

In July 2026, Poteat was detained during a drug investigation in Galloway Township. During that encounter, police discovered heroin, crack cocaine, and oxycodone in his possession, and Poteat resisted arrest.
