George Simion and AUR face internal dispute over campaign funds
A leadership conflict within the AUR party has emerged following a dispute between President George Simion and co-founder Marius Lulea regarding 800,000 RON in campaign funds. Simion stated he is unaware of the identity of the donors or the current location of the money, asserting that Lulea coordinated the finances. Lulea, who was recently excluded from the party, confirmed a long-standing relationship with the Tender family, noting they are currently collaborating on a private hospital project in Bucharest.
Sociologist Marius Pieleanu suggests this internal friction could lead to a split in the sovereignist political movement. Pieleanu noted that the conflict might result in the emergence of two separate parties competing for the same electorate in upcoming elections. Despite the potential fragmentation, Pieleanu maintains that the sovereignist political bloc retains significant electoral potential for the presidential elections.
