George Strait receives Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame Career Maker Award

Country music artist George Strait accepted the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame’s Career Maker Award on Monday, October 26. The honor, which has previously only been awarded to Reba McEntire in 2018, recognizes artists whose work has helped songwriters build careers worthy of induction into the Hall.

During his acceptance speech, Strait credited the songwriters for his success, stating, “I think they got this turned around, because they made my career. That’s the way I feel. I truly do and I always will.”

Strait’s career has a deep connection to the Nashville songwriting community. He has recorded 264 songs written or co-written by 72 members of the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame, including 65 Top 40 singles. Notably, 44 of those writers had not yet been inducted into the Hall at the time Strait first recorded their work.
