George Weah leads FIFA Players’ Voice Panel anti-racism pledge

The FIFA Players’ Voice Panel (PVP), led by honorary captain and former Liberian President George Weah, has pledged to intensify efforts to combat racism and discrimination in football. Following a meeting at FIFA’s Paris office, the panel reviewed anti-racism initiatives for the 2026 FIFA World Cup and discussed strategies for future tournaments.

Established in September 2025, the PVP consists of 16 former male and female players representing 14 FIFA member associations across all six continental confederations. The group operates under FIFA’s Global Stand Against Racism initiative, which maintains a zero-tolerance policy. The panel provides independent perspectives, monitors anti-racism strategies, and advises FIFA executives on structural reforms and educational programs.

George Weah, the first African to win FIFA World Player of the Year, emphasized the need for increased action to eliminate racism from the sport. The panel intends to present a comprehensive annual review outlining its achievements and future priorities in the near future.
