Georges-Louis Bouchez considers transition from politics to Belgian football leadership
Georges-Louis Bouchez, the president of the MR political party and president of the second-division club Francs Borains, is considering a full transition from politics to professional football management in Belgium.
Now a member of the Pro League board of directors representing second-division teams, Bouchez aims to reform the governance of Belgian football. He seeks to establish a "true collective vision" and end what he describes as institutional improvisations. His objectives include fostering better dialogue between clubs to prevent decisions from being finalized before general assemblies and bridging the divide between large and small clubs.
Bouchez has expressed interest in more creative league formats inspired by the Champions League or new playoff structures. While he denies conflicts of interest regarding his political stances on gambling advertising and social security for sports organizations, he maintains that his positions align with his liberal ideology and the economic viability of the sector. He noted that the fast-paced, tangible results of the sporting world contrast with the slow nature of political change.
