Georges River Council plans cultural festivals and sports field studies

Georges River Council is addressing community needs through both cultural programming and infrastructure requests. The council is partnering with the Sydney Fringe Festival to host several entertainment experiences in Hurstville next month. The program includes FEAST events featuring Malaysian and Indian cuisine, as well as 'Fringeville' at Hurstville Plaza, which will feature music, dance, and street food.

Separately, Deputy Mayor Sam Stratikopoulos has called for a feasibility study to establish four new all-weather sports fields at Renown Park, Carss Park Flats, Claydon Reserve, and Beverly Hills Park. The motion follows a petition signed by 1,000 local residents. Stratikopoulos noted that current fields are being used 28 percent beyond their capacity, leading to turf degradation and interrupted training sessions during inclement weather.
