Georgetown and Kentucky Add International Swimmers to Upcoming Recruiting Classes

Distance‑freestyle specialist Maxx Vazirani, a Speedo Sectionals finalist from Brookline High School, announced a verbal commitment to join Georgetown University's men's swim team beginning in the fall of 2027. Vazirani, who trains with Charles River Aquatics, posted personal bests of 1:39.28 in the 200 free and 4:26.16 in the 500 free during the 2025‑26 season and is projected to be an immediate point scorer for the Big East champion program.

Latvian record‑holder Nikolass Deicmans signed with the University of Kentucky for the 2026 recruiting class. Deicmans holds national records in the 200 backstroke (2:01.18) and the short‑course metre 200 back (1:53.47). He has represented Latvia at the 2025 World Championships and, despite new eligibility rules limiting his collegiate career to four years, is expected to contribute in backstroke and freestyle events for the SEC team.

Both athletes join a growing trend of U.S. college programs recruiting internationally‑ranked swimmers to bolster their rosters.
