Georgetown men's soccer defeats Rutgers 2-1

Georgetown University's men's soccer team secured its first win of the season with a 2-1 victory over Rutgers University at Shaw Field. The No. 5 ranked Hoyas took an early lead in the 27th minute when Matthew Van Horn scored following an assist from Matthew Helfrich.

While Rutgers controlled much of the second half and created several scoring opportunities, Georgetown extended its lead in the 87th minute. Zayan Ahmed scored the second goal for the Hoyas after receiving a pass from Mitchell Baker.

Rutgers mounted a late offensive, scoring in the 90th minute via a Charlie Kitch header on a corner kick to mark his first goal as a Scarlet Knight. Despite the late goal, Georgetown held on for the win, improving to a 1-0-1 record, while Rutgers fell to 0-1-1.
